Fitness

I joined the YMCA a few weeks ago!  It feels so good to lift weights again!  I do my cardio on the elliptical machine right now, but I must say, I’ve never been one for indoor cardio workouts.  I don’t enjoy being on the treadmill or any other machine for that matter, but I sure do like the way I feel when I come off it!  And I know approximately how many calories burned and my exact distance and speed.  That is a nice feature.  Plus, I just plug the earphones in and watch HGTV the whole time.  =)  That makes the time go by more quickly and when House Hunters is on, my curiosity to find out which house they choose (1, 2, or 3), usually keeps me going that extra distance!  I can’t just watch 3/4 of the show and quit right before the finale.  It’s so much fun to find out if my guess is correct or not.  I win some, I lose some, but there is a positive side to waiting to find out…I always burn a few extra calories.  =)  Well, exercise is not just about burning calories; it’s about overall physical health.  Keeping my heart exercised, sweating, moving my limbs.  And it’s good for my mental health.  I feel more energized the whole day long, and in a better mood.  I’m better for my babies and better for Josh.  Just knowing that I’m doing something good for myself makes all the difference.  And when I am consistently working out, I find that I eat better, crave less sweets, and want to exercise even more.

Notice I did not say, “eat less”.  It is very obvious that I’m hungrier now throughout the day.  But that’s okay.  I just try to eat healthy snacks.  It’s good to eat extra protein when lifting weights on a regular basis.

I find that I keep putting off publishing posts until I get pictures to post along with the entry, but I’m discovering that I don’t always have the appropriate picture to go along with an entry.  So I’m just going to blog and post pictures of my cute kids.

Megan,
It looks wonderful (the blog)! I love your header and the background design. I’m so proud of you for figuring it out. And those little twins are just adorable. I’m glad you’re finding time to get a little exercise in—-which for me these days is so much more mental than physical! Blessings to your sweet little family.
Hugs,
edie
